Leaders Online: Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday said he will not be able to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024 as he is battling cancer for the past six months. He has shared this information by posting on his X account.

“I have been battling cancer for the past 6 months. Now is the time to tell people. I will not be able to do anything in the Lok Sabha elections. Everything about this has been told to the Prime Minister. Always grateful and always dedicated to the country, Bihar and the party.” Such an emotional post has been made by Sushil Kumar Modi.

Sushil Kumar Modi has not appeared in any public event for the past few days. But they are commenting on political events through social media. Sushil Kumar Modi is known as a veteran leader of Bihar. His Rajya Sabha membership term ended this year. After the list of BJP candidates was announced, it was clear that they will not contest the elections. Now he has publicly said that he has cancer.

Political career of Sushil Kumar Modi

Sushil Kumar Modi first contested the election from Patna Madhya Vidhan Sabha constituency in 1990 and won three consecutive elections. From 1996 to 2004, he was the Leader of Opposition of the BJP in the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Sushil Kumar Modi had filed a public interest litigation in the High Court against Lalu Prasad Yadav in the fodder scam case. Lalu Prasad got stuck in this. He entered Parliament for the first time in 2004. He had won the election from Bhagalpur Lok Sabha constituency.
