On Thursday, the ST-SC case against Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty was heard in Rajasthan High Court. The case related to Shilpa Shetty has been dismissed by the court under the ST-SC Act, while Salman's case has been put in pending.
What was the whole matter?
In the year 2017, Ashok Panwar had filed a complaint against Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty under the ST-SC Act at Churu police station in Rajasthan. Section 157A of IPC was imposed on him. There were allegations that Shilpa had misused the word 'Bhangi' in an old interview, which has insulted the Valmiki community and also hurt the sentiments of the people of the community. Salman Khan was also present with Shilpa in this interview.
In the hearing held on Thursday, a single bench of Justice Arun Moga dismissed the case against Shilpa Shetty saying that such a complaint cannot be filed without a preliminary investigation. This matter should have been thoroughly investigated before filing the complaint. The court also said that no concrete evidence has been found that such a word was used to harm or insult anyone.
After the complaint was filed in 2017, Shilpa Shetty had also apologized.
Shilpa Shetty's lawyer said in his argument during the hearing, the interviews for which the complaint has been filed against Salman Khan and Shilpa are different interviews. Shilpa's interview is from 2013, on which a complaint has been registered in Churu. The sections imposed on Shilpa were imposed in the year 2016, whereas Shilpa's interview is of 2013.
Shilpa Shetty's case may have been dismissed by the court, but Salman Khan's case is still pending.
