Big news! Act to prevent forced conversions in Rajasthan soon









Leader Online Desk : Rajasthan to introduce legislation to prevent early forced and fraudulent conversions. The Rajasthan government has submitted an affidavit in this regard in the Supreme Court. The Rajasthan government has given this information while replying to a public interest petition filed in the Supreme Court.

The Rajasthan government has said, “There is no special law in the state to prevent conversion. The state government is currently following directions given by the Supreme Court to prevent forced and fraudulent conversions. But soon a separate law will be made in this regard.”

BJP leader Adv. Ashwini Upadhyay has filed this PIL in 2022. In this petition, Upadhyaya has demanded that strict measures be taken to prevent forced and fraudulent conversions. The Supreme Court had said that if there is forced conversion, it is a threat to national security and directed the central government to submit an affidavit in this regard. After that, the central government had instructed the states to submit an affidavit.

Some states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat have such laws, petitions have been filed against them. All these petitions have been consolidated. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court had also made a verbal comment that the anti-conversion laws that have been enacted at present are against Article 25 of the Constitution.
