Big FIFA announcement! Brazil to host the 2027 Women's Football World Cup











Leaders Online Desk: The host country has been selected for the Women's Football World Cup to be held in 2027. FIFA announced that Brazil will host the 10th Women's Football World Cup in 2027 at its 74th meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday.

Brazil previously hosted the Men's Football World Cup in 1950 and 2014. So this will be the first time for them to host the Women's World Cup. Moreover, this will be the first Women's World Cup to be held in South America.

In fact there was a tie between Brazil and the United Europeans (Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands) to host the Women's World Cup. Because earlier last month, the US and Mexico withdrew their joint proposal from this race. So before that in November 2023. Africa withdrew its claim. Therefore, only Brazil and the United Europeans remained in the list to get this host. Finally, FIFA took the vote at a meeting held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. In which the highest (119) votes were cast in Brazil. United Europeans finished second with 78 votes.

Brazilian Football Confederation President Edmundo Rodríguez said, 'Today we are experiencing a historic day in Bangkok. This is a victory for world women's football. I assure you all that this will be the best Women's World Cup in history. With this tournament, along with global investment, the development of women's football in South America will take a big leap.'

The 2027 World Cup will feature 32 nations and will be played in ten cities. The Women's Football World Cup started in 1991. China hosted the Women's Football World Cup for the first time. In which the American team became the champion. The Norwegian team was the runner-up. The Women's Football World Cup has been played 9 times so far. In which the American team has become the champion four times. The German team has won the Women's World Cup title twice. Japan, Norway and Spain have also won the Women's Football World Cup once each. The Women's Football World Cup trophy played last year was contested between England and Spain. In which the Spanish team won.
