A South producer wanted to make a remake of 'Mughal-e-Azam' with the Bachchan family. In which he wanted to cast Amitabh Bachchan in the role of Akbar, Jaya in the role of Jodha Bai, Abhishek in the role of Salim and Aishwarya in the role of Anarkali. But Big B refused that film and said that a remake of 'Mughal-e-Azam' cannot be made.
Producer-director Mehul Kumar revealed this during a recent interview. Mehul Kumar has done films like 'Kohram' and 'Mrityudaata' with Amitabh Bachchan. Mehul Kumar told that a South producer had proposed to make a remake of 'Mughal-e-Azam' with the Bachchan family.
Mehul Kumar said- Once a big producer from the South Industry called me and expressed his desire to remake 'Mughal-e-Azam' with the Bachchan family. He also told me the complete casting of the film, who will play what role in the Bachchan family? I asked if he has talked to Bachchan sahab about this. He said that Bachchan sahab has asked him to talk to you first about this.
Mehul Kumar further said- I told that producer that 'Mughal-e-Azam' cannot be remade. What you are thinking cannot be successful. Because people will compare it with the original film. It is a historical film. Then he told Bachchan sahab on the phone that Mehul Kumar has said so. Bachchan sahab said that Mehul has said the right thing.
