BCCI: Test cricket will get a 'revival'; Sluggish increase in players' salaries leader









Leaders Online Desk: India has won the Test series against England 4-1. After this victory, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a big announcement for the Test cricket players. After the Indian team's win, BCCI Secretary Jai Shah announced the 'Test Cricket Promotion Scheme' in a post immediately. Through this scheme, the players will be rewarded extra on top of the existing match fee. The 'Test Cricket Incentive Scheme' for the 2022-23 season has been implemented. (BCCI)

BCCI Secretary Jai Shah announced, 'I am pleased to announce the launch of the 'Test Cricket Incentive Scheme' for Indian team players. It aims to provide financial growth and stability to its elite players. He also mentioned that the 'Test Cricket Incentive Scheme' starting from the 2022-23 season will be given as an additional reward structure on top of the existing match fees of Test matches. (BCCI)

Financial incentives other than match fee

The BCCI has increased the per-match fee from the existing Rs 15 lakh to Rs 45 lakh (player category) for players who participate in seven or more Test matches in a season. Players who are part of the playing-11 in 50 percent of the matches will get a total of Rs 30 lakh per match, while players who are part of the squad in the same number of matches will get Rs 15 lakh per match. Also, if a player plays less than 50 percent matches, he will not get any financial incentive. The match fee will be Rs 15 lakh only for each match.
