Recently a heartbreaking incident happened with the famous Bengali cinema actress Payal Mukherjee. The actress was returning home late at night in her car when a biker attacked her on the way. After the attack, the actress immediately went live on Facebook and informed about the incident and asked for help.
The incident is said to have happened on Friday evening. South actress Payal was passing by Kolkata's Lake Avenue in her car, when a biker tried to stop her car. When the actress showed prudence and did not stop the car, the attackers broke the glass of her car by punching it and forcibly stopped the car near Jodhpur Park. He threatened and abused the actress on the road.
Came live on Facebook and asked for help, raised questions on women safety
After the incident, Payal Mukherjee went live on Facebook and cried for help. The actress cried while showing the broken glass of her car in Facebook Live. She also came live and asked where is the safety of women on the streets of Kolkata.
The actress told that the biker was chasing her and asking her to open the glass of her car, but when she did not do so, he broke the glass by hitting it with his hand, due to which the actress suffered many injuries on her body. After the actress went live on Facebook, many people tagged Kolkata Police and pleaded for help. Taking immediate action, Kolkata Police reached the spot. The policemen on duty in Jodhpur Park area have arrested the biker.
The accused blamed the actress in return
In a conversation with Aaj Tak, Kolkata Police told that when the accused biker was arrested, he told a different story. According to the biker, the actress hit his bike while passing through Lake Avenue Road. When he tried to stop the actress in anger, she did not stop the car. He was hitting the glass to stop the car, due to which the glass of the car broke. The arrested accused has been identified as M.R. Arasan, Junior Commissioned Officer of Kolkata Command Hospital.
Following the incident, actress Payal Mukherjee filed a written complaint at the Tollygunge police station against 39-year-old M.I. Arasan under sections 126(1)/74/79/324(2)/351(1) BNS of the IPC.
