Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir in August?


New Delhi, Leading News Service: Before the Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections, the central government has prepared to hold assembly elections in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the month of August or September. Accordingly, the Election Commission is likely to announce the election program soon.

The BJP has appointed in-charges and co-in-charges in the states that are going to hold assembly elections on Monday. As it also includes Jammu and Kashmir, there are indications of holding assembly elections in this state too. The people of Jammu and Kashmir were enthusiastic about voting in the Lok Sabha elections. In Jammu and Kashmir, 58.58 percent and in the Valley. 51.5 percent of the voting was done.

Seeing the enthusiasm of the voters, the Election Commission has prepared a revised list of the state's boundaries and electorate, while no assembly elections were held in Kashmir in the last 6 years. Jammu and Kashmir is likely to be given full statehood as soon as the assembly elections are over. There are 90 Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir. It includes 43 seats in Jammu region and 47 seats in Kashmir region. President's rule is currently in force in the state.
