Kejriwal's judicial custody till April 15
Delhi's Rouse Avenue court produced Kejriwal on Monday, April 1. During the hearing, the court directed the 'ED' to submit a status report. The court clarified that it did not comment on the jurisdiction of the petitioner. At this time, 'ED' demanded that Kejriwal be sent to judicial custody for 15 days. Delhi's Rouse Avenue court remanded Kejriwal to judicial custody till April 15. During the hearing held on March 28 in this case, the court had extended Kejriwal's ED custody till April 1. Arvind Kejriwal ED Arrest : What is the case?
The ED's investigation into the Delhi liquor policy case focused on an alleged network of middlemen, businessmen and politicians. The investigating agencies have called it 'South Group'. The ED alleged that the liquor policy was changed to help the Dakshin Group of companies. The then Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, took a lenient stance in the interests of the traders without taking any advice.
ED has already arrested Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and other AAP leaders in connection with the liquor policy scam. ED had summoned Kejriwal 9 times for questioning. He had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking protection from ED notices and arrest. After the court rejected their plea, the ED team reached Kejriwal's residence on the night of March 21 with the 10th notice and search warrant. Kejriwal was interrogated for two hours. His mobile phone was seized during the interrogation. He was arrested after interrogation. Incidentally, the Delhi High Court had on Wednesday (March 27) refused to intervene in Kejriwal's arrest in the liquor policy scam case.
