Leaders Online: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail by the Rouse Avenue court after he rejected the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the probe into the alleged excise policy scam case. ACMM Divya Malhotra of Rouse Avenue Court granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal in two complaints filed by ED.
The court has granted bail to Kejriwal on personal bond of Rs 15,000 and Rs 1 lakh in two cases. He was asked to appear on the basis of two complaints by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after he rejected the ED's summons. Accordingly, Kejriwal and his lawyer Ramesh Gupta appeared in the court today amid tight security. He was summoned eight times by the ED to probe the alleged Delhi Excise policy scam case.
AAP legal chief Sanjeev Nasiyar said, “The court had summoned Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. After they appeared through video conferencing, they were instructed again. Then he said that he would appear in person. He appeared in court today and submitted bail and was granted bail.”
Our stand on ED summons is clear that summons issued by ED are not in accordance with law and are illegal. The court will take a decision on this now. We have full faith in the court. Whatever decision the court takes, our decision will be based on it, he said.
Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was summoned by the ED for questioning. But Kejriwal criticized the government, alleging that it was a conspiracy by the Modi government to arrest me and topple the Delhi government. Also, he did not attend the inquiry of ED on any of these summons. Therefore, the ED approached the Sessions Court against Kejriwal for not complying with the summons. (Arvind Kejriwal)
