Anupam Kher started his acting career in 1984 with the film Saransh. Till now he has worked in more than 500 films. Recently Anupam talked about his retirement from films. He said that he has no desire to retire right now. He does not want people to count him in any particular age or category.

Actually, Anupam Kher's film Vijay 69 will be released on OTT on November 8. Talking about this film, he said that this film is the story of a courageous former swimming coach, who at the age of 69 accepts the challenge of breaking the record in a triathlon.

Anupam Kher said, 'When people assume that this is the age of retirement and give you tags like 'Veteran', 'Legend'. They also give lifetime achievement awards, so they think that now you will retire comfortably. But I always oppose it, because who is to decide what I should do in my life?

Anupam said, 'I had dreamed of appearing in films since childhood and never wanted to leave it. At the age of 28, I had nothing to lose, because even my hair had fallen out! This mattered more to me than the fact that I was a gold medalist in drama school. Whenever I went to any office, they would say, 'What will I do with the gold medal, you have no hair. You become a writer or an assistant director. But I knew I just needed one chance, and I would prove it to him. I got that opportunity from the film Saaransh.

Anupam Kher further said, 'When I came into films in 1984, people were surprised that I was 28 years old and playing the role of a 65-year-old man. But I knew that if I did it right, I could find work for the next 40 years. You need confidence to break the standards of hero and heroine. You should not be afraid of failure, because fear only makes you average.

According to Anupam Kher, Mumbai is a place where everyone gets a chance. You just have to be prepared. He has also received a lot of rejections. In 1983 he had no money to pay the rent. His family lived in one room. The landlord had kept his belongings outside. He had to pay the rent by evening. When he went to a producer, the actor did whatever he asked. But even after handing over the signing amount he suddenly pulled back. This was very humiliating for him.

Anupam further says that I remember that once I could not find any place to stay, so I slept on a newspaper spread on the beach. But over time, those difficulties and humiliations become your biggest stories. I always used to tell myself, there is just a little more time, be patient.
