Leader Online Desk: On October 29, 2023, a train accident took place at Kantakappalli in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh. In this accident, 14 people died and 50 railway passengers were injured. Rayagada passenger train rammed Visakhapatnam Palasa train from behind at Kantakappalli on Howrah-Chennai route. Now there is a big revelation about this incident. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, “When the accident took place, the driver and assistant driver of the passenger train were watching a cricket match on mobile phones”. Distracted by cricket match…
Ashwini Vaishnav told news agency PTI, “The recent train accident incident in Andhra Pradesh happened because both the loco pilot and assistant pilot were distracted by a cricket match. After this accident, we are now putting in place a system to ensure that any such incidents are detected and the pilots and co-pilots pay full attention to train operation.” This is also explained by Ashwini Vaishnav. However, the investigation report by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) has not been made public yet. However, in the preliminary investigation conducted by the railway a day after the accident, the driver and assistant driver of the Rayagada passenger train have been held responsible for the collision. He was charged with violating the rules and passing two faulty auto signals. Both the crew members died in the accident. (Andhra Pradesh Train Collision)
