Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has talked about the film 'Inshallah' in his recent interview. The director told that Alia was heartbroken after hearing the news of the closure of this film.
She was very angry to know that she would no longer be able to play the character she loved. However, instead Bhansali offered him 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' which was a superhit.
Bhansali had announced the film 'Inshallah' in 2019, which was shelved due to creative differences.
Told Alia that I am doing 'Gangubai' with you. In an interview given to Hollywood Reporter, Bhansali said, 'When Alia was told that the film 'Inshallah' has been closed, she broke down. She cried and locked herself in a room.
After this I called her and told her that I am doing 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' with her.
Alia and Salman have not worked together in their careers till now.
Alia said- I don't know this character Bhansali told that in response to this, Alia asked him – 'Where I was playing a character in 'Inshallah' who lives in Los Angeles. From there I have directly come to Kamathipura. How will I do this? I don't even know this character.
I said- this is my job as a director Bhansali further said that after this he told Alia that he would help her in playing this role. He said, 'I will bring out the strong woman inside you. I see in your eyes that you are strong. I have understood your personality. As a director, it is my job to bring out from the actor what I have seen in him.
Alia received the Best Actress Award for 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' at the 69th National Film Awards.
'Gangubai Kathiawadi' won 5 National Awards 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', released in the year 2022, was commercially and critically successful. The film won 5 awards at the 69th National Film Awards including Best Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Editing.
Salman and Bhansali have worked together in films like 'Khamoshi', 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' and 'Saawariya'.
Earlier in 2019, Bhansali had announced that he and Salman Khan were going to work on 'Inshallah' after 12 years. Alia was chosen as the lead actress for the film. Later it was closed due to creative differences.
