New Delhi; Leading News Service: Agniveer Yojana is a contracting system in the army, it is weakening the country's army. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has asserted that the Agniveer Yojana will be scrapped if the All India Government comes to the Centre. He was speaking at a program in Delhi.
At an event in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi interacted with the youth about Agniveer Yojana. On this occasion, Rahul Gandhi said that “Agniveer Yojana has shattered the dream of youth to join the army. This plan has also demoralized the army and is weakening the army. Agniveer Yojana is a contract system in the Army. Congress does not want contract system in army. The Congress has promised in its manifesto that this scheme will be scrapped if the government comes to the Centre.”
Rahul Gandhi said that “Agniveer Yojana was not made by army people. The decision of Agniveer Yojana has been taken in the Prime Minister's Office. Army and youth were not asked about this plan. Agniveer Yojana does not provide pension, martyr status and canteen facilities.” Raising the issue of non-placement of one and a half lakh youth selected in the army, Rahul Gandhi said, “The dream of the youth to join the army has not been fulfilled yet.
