Actor Vineet Kumar Singh was recently seen in 'Ghuspatia'. The actor worked in the film 'Mukkabaaz' as a solo hero. But after this film, nothing happened in the direction he was seeing his career in. He did new experiments to bring confidence in the minds of the makers. Currently, he also has big projects with Kabir Khan, Reema Kagti and Anurag Kashyap. He is also playing an important role in Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhava'. Today is his birthday. A special conversation was held with the actor about his projects and career…
What are your plans for your birthday? Will you celebrate with your family or will you be busy shooting?
I will be in Mumbai on my birthday. I will celebrate with my family. However, I am busy shooting for a project. So, there are no big plans for my birthday. I can tell you that there might be an announcement about one of my projects on my birthday. I am going to give a big surprise to my fans. I have written some things at the writing level which will come out gradually.
What is your role in 'Ghuspatia'. What kind of response are you getting?
In 'Ghuspatia', I played the role of a cop. For the first time, I was playing a role in which the place where I work is a cyber unit. My character keeps listening to people's calls. There are many of my scenes in which there is no other character in front of me. The emotion related to the calls I am listening to will be felt in my eyes, only then the right message will be conveyed. This was a very new experience for me. It feels good that people are liking my character. I have always received love from critics as well.
When will you be seen again in a solo project like 'Mukkabaaz'?
There are some things but actually after the release of 'Mukkabaaz', I also felt that things would go well, I would get solo projects but nothing like that happened in a concrete way. After that, there was a big jump in the kind of work I am doing. I am thankful to those people because of whom 'Mukkabaaz' was released. After such a film comes in an actor's life, things change. Yes, it is true that after this, there was no major development in the direction of what I was expecting.
Then I decided that I will do different kinds of roles. After this, I played important roles in films like Gold, Saand Ki Aankh, Aadhar, Siya and Gunjan Saxena. I did a lot of experiments in the meantime. I am getting benefits from it now. The makers have also got a belief that this boy can do something good.
You are also in the film 'Chhava' with Vicky Kaushal?
I am doing 'Chhava' with Vicky. There is a very important role in it. There is a character in it that will surprise the audience. I know Vicky for a long time. He is very hard working. When I was doing 'Gangs of Wasseypur', I saw him working on the set and how dedicated he is. The same happened with me that after 'Mukkabaaz' I got a chance of only one or two years, then Covid came. After this, two years were completely wasted.
After this I started preparing again. I thought of doing new things in a new way. Whatever is coming out now is the result of hard work of the last 3 years. An actor does not have that much in his hands. When he gets a good script, director-producer, then his work reaches the people. Whatever kind of work I am getting now, I am working hard in it as I did for 'Mukkabaaz'.
What are you doing in writing?
I have written some things. Of course, I have written them for myself. I am very selfish in this matter. As an actor, I don't get much time, but whatever time I get, I try to write something good for myself. My career also jumped in such a way that I wrote 'Mukkabaaz' for myself. Very soon something will come out.
You were going to make a biopic on Birsa Munda. Did you progress further on that?
Birsa Munda's biopic did come to me. Later I came to know that two-three other people also wanted to make a project on him. I had offers for both the series and the film. However, nothing was confirmed about it further. If in the future someone wants to make something on it with full preparation, then I will definitely join them.
What upcoming projects do you have on your account?
Kabir Khan sir has produced a show 'Rangeen' for Amazon Prime. I am playing the lead role in it. There is 'Chhava' with Vicky Kaushal. 'Super Boys of Malegaon' has gone to the Toronto International Film Festival. It is directed by Reema Kagti. I consider myself lucky in this matter that whoever I have worked with, they repeat me in their projects. This is my second film with them after 'Gold'. I am doing a film again with Anurag sir, the shooting of which is going on.
