Vinod of 'Panchayat' series is now in news as 'Dhencha' in 'Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper'. Recently Ashok Pathak talked to Dainik Bhaskar about this series. When he came to Dainik Bhaskar's Mumbai office, a different glow was seen on his face. The actor told that he had first auditioned for the role of Lappu. But the director selected him for the role of Dhencha and he put his heart and soul into this role. Let's know what else Ashok Pathak said during the conversation…..

How challenging was it to break the image of Binod and play the character of Dhencha?

When I was shooting for the second season of Panchayat, the role of 'Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper' was finalised at that time. When I got this role, I remembered Dushyant Kumar's poem 'Ho Gayi Hai Peer Parvat-Si Pighalni Chahiye, Is Himalaya Se Koi Ganga Nikalni Chahiye'. When you play small roles, you wish to get a chance to play a bigger role. When I am restless to do something good, then by the grace of God, I get something good.

The same happened with the role of Dhencha. I am very grateful to director Amrit Raj Gupta and Puneet Krishna for this role. I had first auditioned for the role of Lappu. Amrit and Puneet bhai asked the casting director to let me audition for Dhencha. I got this role and I put my heart and soul into it. But I did not find it challenging at all.

The people who used to call you 'Binod' on the road would now be calling you 'Dhencha'?

Now people have started calling me 'Dhencha' bhai. It feels very good to hear it. When a character makes a place for itself, it feels that the hard work has paid off. People have a different kind of love for Binod. My parents have come to Mumbai now. I go with them. People recognize me and talk about me. The sparkle I see in the eyes of my parents after hearing this gives me a lot of energy. I feel as if I have got everything in the world.

You might have received a lot of compliments for this role, what has been the most beautiful compliment?

I am getting messages from a lot of people. Some of them had seen the character of Binod. For them, watching the character of Dhencha has been an amazing experience. People talk about the scenes. The most beautiful compliment has been from Kumar Vishwas ji. After watching the series, I got a message from him saying “Long live the wonderful actor”. He has invited me to his home.

When you get such compliments, how do you control your emotions?

Responsibilities towards oneself, society, family and audience increase. It seems that this love should last a lifetime. People should praise me for good things and not scold me for bad things. I will always try to keep doing my work with honesty.

Now it seems that you have slowly started climbing the ladder of success?

I feel that whatever I am getting till now is all interest. I got the principal amount in 2012 itself. I had not even imagined this day. I just have to keep moving forward working honestly like this. I have no complaints now. I never thought about the parameters of success or what will happen.

,Dhencha's character is such that you got a chance to do a lot of things. Now what kind of characters would you like to do in future? Which projects are coming up?

Two of my films are about to release. One of them is 'Shoe Box'. It is a very beautiful film. It has a very interesting story. It has a very serious character. I stayed in Allahabad for two-three weeks for that film. I understood the local language. This film has been shown in many festivals. I am waiting for the release of this film. It is a remake of a South Indian film. I have played a negative character in it.

Are the kind of characters you want to play now coming to you?

I have a hunger to play good characters. After the role of 'Dhencha' in 'Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper', things have changed. People have started to feel that I can now play such characters as well. As an artist, I think that different characters should come and I should live them.

How has been your audition experience? What message would you like to give to outsiders?

If you come with negative thinking, you will have a negative experience. I knew I had come here to act. I started working in that direction. I did not think that I do not have a godfather in the industry, so how will I get work.

Instead of giving 10 auditions throughout the day, I gave only one audition with full dedication. I may not have got work at the time of audition, but the casting director definitely remembered me. He called me for some other project. Relationships will be formed only because of your work. If you have talent, then you will definitely get opportunities.

What were the happiest and saddest experiences during auditions?

I enjoy giving auditions the most. After Covid, I have to send auditions myself. But when I came in the beginning, I was told that I am not fit for the role. It definitely feels bad to hear this. But auditions also have a process. There should be nothing to feel bad about it.

You have worked with many senior actors. Be it Raghuveer Yadav, Pankaj Tripathi or Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Who has been the best experience of working with?

I used to see how my senior actors were performing. The way they work with ease, seeing that, half of my work is done. I have also done a film '102 Not Out' with Amitabh Bachchan sahab. Even today, he remembers the lines and delivers them exactly the same. I had only one scene with him. During the rehearsal, Bachchan sahab said that you would like to do some improvisation from your side.

Were you nervous working with Bachchan sahab?

I was not nervous, rather I was enjoying every moment. My father is a big fan of Bachchan sahab. Even today, whenever Bachchan sahab's film comes, he watches it 20 times. After the scene was over, I told this to Bachchan sahab, then he said let me talk to my father.

At that time, my father was working in Jindal Company in Haryana. His phone was kept at the gate. I did not expect that Bachchan sahab would say such a thing. Even today when I tell this to my father, he thinks that I wish there was a holiday that day.
