Varun will be seen in the childhood role of Savarkar in the film 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar'.
How is Randeep Hooda as a director?
Randeep sir is an amazing director. Watching this film you will not feel that this is his debut as a director. He is a perfectionist regarding his work.
Even if he takes an hour to take a 10 minute shot, he will give OK to the shot only when everything is perfect. He doesn't even want 19-20 in any scene.
It is good to see his honesty towards work. They know what they have to present to their audience.

How did you prepare for the role of Veer Savarkar?
Randeep sir completely helped me in preparing for this character. When we met for the first time at his house, Sir told me all the things related to Savarkar ji and what he had done for the country. How was he in childhood, what did he do when he grew up.
To prepare for my character, he even gave me the summary of his dialogues. It helped me a lot and I came to know that when my character is behaving like this as an adult, then how should I behave in childhood. His detailing work on the character and the entire film was superb.
Apart from this, Sir is not bound by the script. He gives you the freedom to work as per your wish in the film. I have a monologue in the film which earlier was only 5 to 6 lines long.
He made it one page on the spot, that too in just 10 minutes. Imagine how amazing his presence of mind would be.
Apart from this, he used to stay with me on the set the whole time. He kept noticing my walk and everything else and also kept telling me about the changes as per his convenience. So that when he plays the role of this character growing up, he is no different from me.
Ankita Lokhande will be seen opposite Randeep in 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar'. She will play the role of Veer Savarkar's wife Yamunabai in the film.
Randeep has lost 18 kg weight for this film.
Before this you worked with Pankaj Tripathi and Sanjana Sanghi in 'Kadak Singh'. How was that experience?
Pankaj sir was very helpful all the time on the set. He used to share his struggle stories with us, listening to which we became very motivated.
Pankaj sir once took us to his home and there he prepared mamos and fed us. Pankaj sir loved Gujarati food, so we also used to take Gujarati food for him many times.
Rest Sanjana Didi was also always very supportive. She took great care of me the entire time on set.
Earlier, Varun was seen in the role of Pankaj Tripathi's son in the film 'Kadak Singh'.
Both you and Pankaj have won National Awards. What kind of conversation took place between the two?
When Pankaj Sir came to know on the set that I had won the National Award for 'Tulsidas Junior', then Pankaj Sir gave me a great advice. He had said that Varun, this award is very big and very special.
It took me so many years to achieve this. You have received this award at a very young age, so take great care of it. Always keep your choice accordingly. Otherwise, sir was always supportive on the set.
What are the upcoming projects?
'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' is yet to be released. After this, two more films will come 'Bachcha Gang' and 'Puppy Love' which may be released soon. Apart from this, these days I am shooting the film 'Chhaava' with Vicky Kaushal sir. My dream is to work with Salman Khan and Karan Johar in the rest of my career.
