Saif Ali Khan played the role of Langra Tyagi in Vishal Bhardwaj's film 'Omkara' released in 2006. But do you know that Vishal's first choice for this role was Aamir Khan.
In an interview, Saif Ali Khan told that the film's director Vishal Bhardwaj wanted Aamir Khan to play the role of Langra Tyagi in it. However, when Aamir demanded him to make several changes in the film, the director did not call him back.
Omkara was the fourth film of Vishal's career. For this he won his second National Award.
Vishal did not call Aamir back: Saif
In an interview given to Film Companion, Saif said, 'When I was working on this film, I came to know that Vishal's first choice for the role I was playing was Aamir. Vishal told that Aamir asked him many questions and he wanted to change many things. In such a situation, Vishal did not call back again.
Apart from Saif, Vivek Oberoi was also seen in an important role named Keshav in the film.
Vishal got confused after hearing Aamir's demand
Saif further said, 'After this conversation with Aamir, Vishal felt that he would not be able to work on his film like this. He was not sure about working with Aamir. Vishal was also not comfortable with the changes that Aamir wanted to make in the film. In such a situation, he chose me for this role.
In Omkara, Ajay Devgan played the role of Omi Shukla and Kareena Kapoor played the role of his wife Dolly Mishra.
'Omkara' won 3 National Awards
Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Bipasha Basu were seen in lead roles in the film Omkara. Based on Shakespeare's novel 'Othello', this film is considered one of Vishal's cult films. The film also received 3 National Awards in the Best Supporting Actress, Best Audiography and Special Jury Award categories.
