Stormy Daniels testified during the hearing that Trump sexually assaulted her in a Lake Tahoe hotel room in 2006. During the presidential election in 2016, Trump heard rumors that Stormy Daniels would make a public reading of this relationship. David Packer, editor of the National Enquirer and friend of Trump, warned Cohen about this. Cohen then paid Stormy Daniels $130,000 from his personal account to settle the settlement at Trump's behest.
This type is known here as cash and kill. Trump later returned the money to Cohen. But in returning it, he was accused of falsely recording legal fees paid to Cohen in his business records. Trump was indicted on 34 counts of tampering with business records. The government party claimed that classifying this amount as legal fee is a big crime. The ruling party had also alleged that this conspiracy was hatched to burnish its image in the 2016 elections.
Trump has denied Stormy Daniels' allegations and said the money paid to Cohen was part of his legal fees.

The jury was deliberating for two consecutive days on the charges against Trump. Trump, sitting in a hall, looked very disappointed. After being convicted, he expressed his displeasure in strong words while leaving the court. “I am innocent and President Biden has implicated us in a false case,” he alleged. All this is fake and the judges are corrupt, the real verdict will be given by the voters of America on November 5, he added.
