Even in the Modi wave, this constituency remained with Sharad Pawar.

Mahesh Shinde defeated Shashikant Shinde in 2019 assembly elections. After that, Sharad Pawar gave him a chance on the Legislative Council. It is Shashikant Shinde who has stood against Udayanraj. Shalinitai Patil, then MLA of Koregaon assembly constituency, was aggressive against Sharad Pawar. Pawar wanted to defeat Shalinitai.
