A bee will accurately diagnose lung cancer!, claims the University of Michigan

New Delhi; Leading News Service: Bees can detect lung cancer by just smelling human tissue cultures, researchers from the Michigan State University College of Engineering and the Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering have discovered.

Bees have different abilities to detect odors in different tissue cultures. These institutes have explained through research that bees can correctly diagnose lung cancer in humans from this smell. Bees can detect chemical concentrations of cancer-related biomarkers in human lungs. Researchers have claimed that cancer can be diagnosed on time.

Elaborating on the research, Devjit Saha, an assistant professor at the University of Michigan's College of Engineering, said that insects have an amazing sense of smell just like dogs. Bees can better distinguish between the chemicals available in the breath of a healthy person and the chemicals in the breath of cancer patients.

Even very low concentrations of the chemical were easily detected by the bees. Saha said that bees have detected the fine concentration of chemical compounds in human breath. During the research, human lung cancer cells were placed in an airtight flask. The bees were then released to smell the tissue cultures of individuals with lung cancer.

A sensor was used to monitor the smell of bees. Bees can quickly distinguish between the odor of lung cancer cells and healthy body cells. Saha claims that it is clear after the research that bees can be used to diagnose lung cancer.
