Director Farah Khan's mother passes away: She had undergone surgery several times; After her father's death, her mother took care of the family

Director and choreographer Farah Khan's mother Menaka Irani passed away today. She was 79 years old and was ill for a long time. She was undergoing treatment at Mumbai's Nanavati Hospital. She was discharged and returned home, but then her condition deteriorated. Even after re-admission, she could not be saved. She breathed her last in the hospital itself.

Menaka Irani was married to Kamran Khan. Kamran Khan used to be a director. At one point, his films started to flop. All his savings were gone. The family which was once prosperous, was on the streets. In this situation, Menaka raised both the children (Farah and Sajid) with great difficulty. Farah and Sajid have said this on many occasions.

Menaka Irani was also the sister of yesteryear actress Daisy Irani and screenwriter Honey Irani. Honey Irani was Javed Akhtar's first wife. Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar are both her children.
