The 1993 film Tiranga was a huge hit. The film's director Mehul Kumar wanted to sign Rajinikanth along with Rajkumar in the film, but Rajinikanth flatly refused to work with Rajkumar. Later, Nana Patekar was cast in the film in place of Rajinikanth. Now the director has revealed that Nana Patekar had put a special condition to work with Rajkumar.

Recently, in an interview given to Friday Talkie, director of the film Tiranga Mehul Kumar has told that he had first offered the film Tiranga to Rajinikanth. Rajinikanth had told him that he liked the script of the film, but he would not work with a temperamental actor like Rajkumar.

After Rajinikanth, director Mehul Kumar offered the second lead role of the film to Naseeruddin Shah, but he too turned down the film. Meanwhile, someone he knew suggested the name of Nana Patekar, who was working in the popular film Parinda at that time. He considered himself an artistic actor.

Director Mehul Kumar has told that when he called Nana Patekar, he refused to do the film saying that he does not do commercial films. In such a situation, the director told him, 'Listen, until you do commercial films, no one will know you. At that time, artistic films were not even released outside Mumbai.'

Director Mehul Kumar told him that he should read the script of the film and then decide.

The day after reading the script, Nana Patekar called director Mehul Kumar to his house and said, 'If Raj (Rajkumar) sahab interferes, I will leave the set and will never return.'

Mehul Kumar explained to him that he need not think about it as he had already worked with him in two films.

Rajkumar had said about Nana Patekar- he is a rude man

Mehul Kumar said, 'When I told Rajkumar that we have finalised Nana Patekar for the second lead, he said, he is a rude man. He abuses on the set. He even beats people.'

Despite all this, both of them completed the film Tiranga together. There was no fight between the two on the set, but Mehul Kumar says that both of them were not friendly with each other on the set.

Let us tell you that the film Tiranga was released in the year 1993. This patriotic film was a huge hit. The songs of the film Pee Le Pee Le O More Raja, Yeh Aan Tiranga Hai were also chartbusters.
