Farida said, 'I was very nervous during the shooting of Aradhana. I grew up in a convent school. I was brought up by my grandmother and mother. I had an elder brother. My parents got divorced when I was two years old, so I never got the love of my father. When I came to films, I was very shy because I had just passed out of school and I had to shoot a romantic song with Rajesh Khanna.'

Farida further said, 'During Aradhana I was new and had no experience at all. I had done only one film and was shooting for another film. Along with this I was also working in the film 'Aradhana'. I did not know anything about romantic songs and scenes. Sharmila ji helped me a lot during that time. She took great care of me and was very protective during the entire shooting. Whenever she saw sadness or trouble on my face, she would immediately come to me and encourage me. She would even scold Rajesh Khanna.
