In an interview given to Filmfare in 2013, Sonakshi had said- I like pompous Indian weddings. But I would like to keep my wedding simple. However, the final decision will be of the parents.
I want to get married on the beach in the presence of family and friends. I like the concept of destination wedding. Where there are no unwanted guests at the wedding, only close friends and family members are present. Such a wedding can happen in Maldives or Bali.
Sonakshi also said that her marriage will not affect her work. First she will finish all her projects and then start preparing for the marriage.

According to reports, Sonakshi and Zaheer were planning their marriage for a long time. Both were waiting for the Lok Sabha elections to end as Sonakshi's father Shatrughan was very busy in the elections.
