Leader Online Desk : The Resistance Front, an offshoot of Pakistan's prized terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba, has claimed responsibility for the terror attack on the bus carrying Vaishno Devi pilgrims.
A bus carrying pilgrims was attacked by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Sunday. The incident took place when the bus was returning from Shiv Khori temple to the base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Katra. The terrorists hiding in the nearby forest attacked the vehicle and opened fire. The driver of the bus was hit by a bullet and lost control of the vehicle. The bus fell into the valley. In this accident, 10 devotees were killed and 33 people were injured.
The investigation was handed over to the NIA
The NIA team is going to investigate this terrorist attack. FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team has also reached the spot.
Use of drones to detect terrorists
Mohit Sharma, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Reasi, said that at a turn, two terrorists with their faces covered opened fire on the bus. This scared the driver and the bus fell into the valley. Dead bodies and injured were lying in the valley. Hearing the screams of the injured people rushed to the streets. As soon as some informed the police, the team entered. Police seized some empty cartridges. On the other hand, the security forces have launched an operation to find the terrorists and have cordoned off the entire surrounding area. The search operation continued till late night in this hilly and densely forested region. Search for terrorists is going on again from this morning. Drones are being used for searching in forest areas. The State Disaster Response Force has also reached the spot. The FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team has also reached the spot where the bus was attacked by terrorists.
