Leaders Online Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has rejected the opposition's claim that the BJP wants to win more than 400 Lok Sabha seats to change the country's constitution. BJP had a mandate to amend the constitution in the last decade, but we did not do so. Home Minister Amit Shah said that the aim of BJP to get more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections is to bring political stability in the country ANI Explained in an interview given to the media.
“In the last 10 years, we had a mandate to change the constitution, but we never did. Do you think whatever Rahul baba and his company say and the people of the country will believe it? This country has given us a clear mandate. The people of the country already know that Modi has enough majority to change the constitution. But we didn't do that,” said Shah.
Why does BJP want 400 seats?
“We want to win 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections to bring stability to the country's politics. We need 400 seats to protect our borders, make India the third largest economy in the world and benefit some poor people who are yet to benefit. Clean water is yet to reach every household. There is a lot of work to be done in the field of natural farming in the country. We want to provide free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh to every senior citizen above 70 years of age. We need 400 seats for that,” he added.
What is Rahul Gandhi's accusation?
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has made a serious accusation mentioning BJP. A political party has allegedly promised in its election campaign that if it wins the election, it will change the constitution. “This is the first time a political party has said that if it comes to power, it will scrap the constitution. This constitution has given rights to the poor, backward, Dalits, tribals, minorities, farmers, laborers of India. And today, senior BJP leaders say that if they win the elections, they will change the constitution itself,” Rahul Gandhi said while addressing a public meeting in Balangir, Odisha on May 15. Amit Shah has rejected these allegations of Rahul Gandhi.
'Will BJP not expand itself?'
“We don't need 400 seats to take a big step; We can do it now. Will no one try to expand their work; Won't the BJP expand itself?” This question has been asked to Shah.
'Majority Abuse During Indira Gandhi's Era'
Targeting the then Indira Gandhi-led Congress government, Shah said, “Look, our party does not have a history of misusing the majority. But Congress has a history of misusing its majority during Indira Gandhi's rule. They changed the clause. The duration of the Lok Sabha was extended. He imposed Emergency and imprisoned 1.5 lakh people for 19 months without reason. We have never abused the majority. No one takes Rahul Baba seriously.” He has made such a trick.
Expressing his confidence of winning the Lok Sabha elections with an absolute majority, Amit Shah said that the people of the country are behind Prime Minister Modi to establish a stable government in the country.
'A stable government will be formed for the third time under Modi's leadership'
“These people want an unstable government in the country. People have seen what a stable government can do for a country. The youth of the country has suffered from an unstable government for 30 years. A stable government under the leadership of PM Modi came to power twice and now a stable government will be formed for the third time. So the people of the country are with Modiji's goal,” he added.
What did Amit Shah say about Kejriwal?
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was recently released from jail on interim bail to campaign for the elections. Speaking on this, Amit Shah said, “As a voter, I believe that wherever they go, people will remember the liquor scam… Kya logong ko to badi botal paisei padegi.”
Article 370 repealed, voter turnout increased in Srinagar
Amit Shah also claimed that the voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar constituency, which has increased from 14 percent earlier to nearly 40 percent, is the biggest proof of the success of the repeal of Article 370. “I would like to tell those who are questioning the abrogation of Article 370 that the voter turnout (in Srinagar) which has increased from 14 per cent in the past to 40 per cent is a success of this decision.” He mentioned that.
