Stock Market Closing Bell | Profit Booking! 'Nifty' retreats after touching new highs; Sensex fell by 188 points


Leaders Online Desk: Some volatility was seen in the Indian stock market on Tuesday (30th). Sensex and Nifty lost their initial momentum due to profit booking and ended lower. The Sensex closed down 188 points at 74,482. Sensex lost a total of 630 points today from the day's high. Meanwhile, the Nifty 50 index touched a new record high of 22,783 points on Monday due to a rally in auto shares. But then the Nifty settled at 22,604 with a minor decline of 38 points. Power, realty boom

In autos, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors were the top gainers. On the other hand, the shares of IT, Metal, Oil & Gas, Bank, FMCG, Capital Goods, Healthcare sectors remained under some selling pressure. While power and realty remained bullish. BSE Midcap gained 0.4 percent. Smallcap closed flat.

The Indian stock market opened higher for the second straight day on Tuesday, buoyed by strong global cues and buying in auto stocks. But it was down about 1 percent from the day's high in afternoon trade.

Nifty Bank today touched the mark of 49,974. The index then closed below 49,400. Shares of Bank of Baroda, Bandhan Bank, PNB, Federal Bank, IndusInd Bank rose the most on Nifty Bank. While the shares of Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank fell.

What is the situation on Sensex?

Sensex jumped to 75,111 in today's trading session. Shares of M&M were the highest on the Sensex, up 4 percent to Rs 2,156. Shares of Power Grid rose 3.34 percent to Rs 303. Along with this, the shares of IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, Maruti, Tata Motors also increased. While the shares of Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, HCL Tech, JSW Steel, Sun Pharma fell.

Nifty hit a new high

Nifty opened at 22,679 today. It then reached a high of 22,783. M&M, Power Grid, Shriram Finance, IndusInd Bank, Hero MotoCorp remained the top gainers on Nifty. While the shares of BPCL, Tech Mahindra, JSW Steel, HCL Tech, Tata Steel fell.
