New Delhi; News Agency: The Supreme Court's Information Technology Service has been integrated with WhatsApp so that lawyers and litigants of the Supreme Court will get updates on dates of cases and other matters.
The announcement was made by Chief Justice Dhananjay Chandrachud before the 9-member Constitution Bench began its proceedings on Thursday. He said, though this small initiative was taken up on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Supreme Court, its impact was going to be huge. WhatsApp has now become a part of our daily life. It is a powerful medium of communication. The same will be used for the digital functioning of the Supreme Court. This step has been taken to strengthen the principles of justice and transparency in the justice system. For this, the Supreme Court's information technology system and WhatsApp have been linked. 87687676 is the official number of Supreme Court through which one-way communication can be done. No calls or messages will be exchanged on it.
