The NAI team had gone to Bhupatinagar area in East Midnapore to investigate the 2022 blasts. This team was arresting the accused and bringing them to Kolkata. At this time, the villagers surrounded the convoy of the NIA team and pelted stones. Many officers were injured in this attack. A case has been registered against the locals. The BJP has alleged that law and order has deteriorated in West Bengal under the rule of Mamata Banerjee and all this is happening with the connivance of the police.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioned why the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team came to Medinipur for raids after midnight, whether the team had the necessary permission to raid at odd hours. The locals who attacked the NIA team were backed.
