Leader Online Desk : IIT Guwahati student Tausif Ali Farooqui has been arrested for allegedly having links with the Islamic State (IS). The arrest has been made under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Three days ago, ISIS terrorist Haris Farooqui alias Harish Ajmal Farooqui was arrested. After this, IIT student Tausif Ali Farooqui, who was on the way to join ISIS, was detained by the police, PTI reported. (IIT student on way to join ISIS detained in Assam: Police)
A lot of factual evidence found in the investigation
Suspected accused Tausif Ali Farooqui is a fourth year student of Biosciences at IIT Guwahati. He was arrested on Saturday under (UAPA). Inspector General of Assam Police's Special Task Force (STF) Parthasarathy Mahant informed that Tausif Ali Farooqui was interrogated. There is credible evidence that he has ties to ISIS. 10 days police custody
While informing about this case, Police Officer Parthasarathy Mahant said that we produced Tausif Ali Farooqui in the court, the court has sent him to police custody for 10 days. We have searched his hostel room in the IIT-Guwahati campus. Accused Tausif has been arrested three days after ISIS India leader Harish Farooqui alias Harish Ajmal Farooqui and his accomplice Anurag Singh alias Rehan were arrested in Dhubri district after crossing over from Bangladesh.
