Sooraj Pancholi was acquitted of abetment to suicide in the suicide case of actress Jiah Khan in 2023. Now in a new interview, Sooraj's mother Zarina Wahab claimed that Jiah had tried to commit suicide several times even before meeting her son.
In an interview given to Lehren Retro, Zarina said- Even before meeting Sooraj, she had tried to commit suicide 4-5 times. But fate was such that it happened only when my son's turn came.
Zarina said- everyone knows what Jiya used to do.
Zarina also revealed that Sooraj had suffered a lot professionally due to his involvement in this matter. He said- We all have gone through bad times. But I believe in one thing that if you spoil someone's life with lies then it comes back to you with interest. This is what karma says.
We waited, even when he was not guilty. It took 10 years. But now he is out of this matter and I am happy. However, this also affected Suraj's career. Everyone knows what she (Jiya) used to do. I don't want to open my mouth. I don't want to belittle myself by saying this.
Jiah made her debut with Amitabh Bachchan's film
Jiah Khan worked with Amitabh Bachchan in her debut film itself. The name of this film made under the direction of Ram Gopal Varma was Nishabd. After this he worked in Aamir Khan's blockbuster film Ghajini. His last film was Akshay Kumar starrer Housefull. Both the films Ghajini and Housefull had done business of more than 100 crores.
Jiya and Suraj met through Facebook
According to media reports, Jiah and Sooraj met through Facebook in 2012. Gradually the closeness between the two increased and they got into a relationship. Jiah and Suraj's family members knew about their relationship. Photos of both of them also went viral. There were reports of him living in a live-in relationship also.
Jiah committed suicide in 2013
On June 3, 2013, Jiah's mother found her dead in her Mumbai home. On the complaint of Jiah's mother, actor and boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi was arrested for abetting suicide. A suicide note was also found near Jiya's body, in which it was written – I gave you so much love and care, but in return I got only betrayal and lies.
At the same time, 10 years after his arrest, the CBI Special Court acquitted Suraj in this case.
