There has been turmoil in the Malayalam film industry for the last 13 days after the Justice Hema Committee report was released. Many famous actors and film makers of the industry are constantly being accused of sexual harassment.
Meanwhile, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has shared a note on Instagram welcoming the report of the Justice Hema Committee. She has also praised the efforts of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC).
Along with this, the actress has requested the Telangana government to submit a uniform report on cases of sexual harassment in the Telugu film industry.
Actress Samantha has been on an acting break for quite some time now. However, she remains fully active on social media.
We appreciate the efforts of WCC
Sharing a story on Instagram, Samantha wrote, 'We the women of Telugu film industry welcome the Hema Committee report and appreciate the persistent efforts of WCC in Kerala… which paved the way for this moment.
On the advice of WCC, a helpline group (The Voice of Women) was also created for the Telugu film industry in 2019.
It will help to create a safe environment
The actress further wrote, 'We request the Telangana government to publish the report of the sub-committee presented on sexual harassment. According to us, this can help the government in creating a safe working environment for women in the Telugu film industry.'

Allegations against several AMMA members, association dissolved
After the Justice Hema Committee report was released on August 19, several actors including Malayalam Movie Artistes Association (AMMA) general secretary and famous actor Siddique, director Ranjith, Mukesh, Maniyanpilla Raju, Idavela Babu and Jayasurya have been accused of sexual harassment.
After this, on 27 August 2024, 17 members including AMMA President and South Superstar Mohanlal resigned from their posts. Also, the Malayalam Movie Artists Association (AMMA) was dissolved.
Samantha will be seen with actor Varun Dhawan in the upcoming series 'Citadel'.

On the work front, Samantha will soon be seen in the web series 'Citadel: Honey Bunny'. Varun Dhawan will be seen opposite her in this. It will stream on Amazon Prime Video from November 7.
