7th Pay Commission | PM Modi's big gift to central employees before Holi! 4 percent increase in dearness allowance

Leaders Online: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and ahead of the Holi festival, the Modi government at the Center today on Thursday gave a big gift to the central government employees. The Union Cabinet has approved a 4 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) of employees. This will benefit 48.67 lakh central government employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners. With today's increase of 4 per cent, the dearness allowance has reached 50 per cent. Increased DA will be applicable from January 1, 2024. This hike is based on the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. (7th Pay Commission)

As per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, if the DA reaches 50 per cent, the house rent allowance, children's education allowance, transport allowance etc. will also increase. Earlier in October 2023, the Center had increased DA by 4 percent. Due to this, he went from 42 percent to 46 percent. Now DA has gone up to 50 percent.

How much will the salary increase?

If a central employee is getting a basic pay of Rs 18,000, then the dearness allowance of that employee is Rs 8,280 at the current rate of 46 per cent. Now if calculated according to 50% with 4% increase, the dearness allowance will be Rs. 9 thousand. That means their salary will increase by Rs.720.

If we calculate it on the basis of maximum basic-pay, an employee earning Rs 56,900 gets a DA of Rs 26,174 at the rate of 46 per cent. Now as DA is 50 percent, this figure will be Rs. 28,450. That means the salary will increase by Rs 2,276. (7th Pay Commission)
