75 delegates from election management institutions of 23 countries on tour to India; Will also visit Maharashtra

New Delhi; Leading News Service: The Election Commission of India has invited global election management organizations to witness the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in the country. 75 delegates from 23 countries from around the world have come to visit India. Small groups of the delegation will visit 6 states of the country, in which the international delegation will also visit the state of Maharashtra.

The Election Commission of India has organized a special program for election visitors during the ongoing Lok Sabha Election 2024 in the country. Through this, the commission has also done the work of cultivating international cooperation. This is a first-of-its-kind program in terms of the participation of international delegates and the scope of the tour.

Representatives from 'these' countries will participate

These include Bhutan, Mongolia, Australia, Madagascar, Fiji, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Moldova, Tunisia, Seychelles, Cambodia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Chile, Uzbekistan, Maldives, Papua New Guinea and Namibia. 75 delegates from 23 countries will participate. Members of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) as well as media representatives from Bhutan and Israel will also participate in the event.

How is the tour of the international delegation?

In this event, all the representatives of Global Election Management Organizations abroad were apprised about the nuances of the Indian electoral system as well as the best practices implemented by the world's largest democratic system. On May 5, Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar along with Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu will address the delegates present at the event. The delegates will then divide into small groups and leave to visit the six states of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. These representatives will monitor the election process there and related preparations in various constituencies. The program will conclude on May 9.
