Leader Online Desk: 29 people died after drinking poisoned liquor at Kallakuri in Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has ordered an inquiry into the incident. Some police officers have been transferred along with the Collector. The district police chief has been arrested in this case.
Some people in the village bought bottles of liquor from the illegal liquor seller. The death toll due to consumption of toxic liquor has reached 29, while more than 100 people have been hospitalized, said Kallakurichi Collector MS Prashant. The illegal liquor seller has been arrested by the police. Liquor stock of 200 liters has been seized from the crime scene.
Meanwhile, the opposition has put the Stalin government on edge over the matter. Opposition parties have demanded strict action against those involved in the death of innocent people.
