In the coming times, Bollywood is going to be crazy about sequels. From Rohit Shetty's film 'Singham Again' to Kartik Aryan's 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3', about 10 sequel films are ready to be released in the next six months. Let us tell you, about Rs 700 crore is at stake on these sequels.

According to trade analyst Atul Mohan, the strategy of bringing a sequel to any film helps in giving a good opening at the box office. At the same time, producer Girish Johar explained how this strategy can also backfire.

These films have a separate fan base: Atul Mohan

While talking to Dainik Bhaskar, trade expert Atul Mohan said, 'There is no doubt that for the next six months, everyone's eyes will be on the sequel. These films have a separate fan base. If someone has seen the first or second part of the film and liked it, then they can easily connect with the new film. The risk value for the makers reduces a bit.

Now how the film performs in the long run depends on the content. However, a good opening can be expected from these films.

Sequels are made because it's a safe game: Girish Johar

According to producer and film business expert Girish Johar, this strategy also backfires. Regarding this, he said, 'Sequels are made because it is a safe game. The producer is confident that whoever has seen the first film will definitely watch the second one as well. But it is not necessary that the story in the sequel is equally strong.

If people do not like the entertainment value of the new film, it will backfire. This strategy is incomplete without good content. The brand value of the film gets affected. In the last few years, there have been some films which earned money at the box office. However, when the sequels or the third or fourth film of these films were made, they proved to be a huge flop.

There is hope from 'Pushpa 2', 'Singham Again', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3': Joginder Tuteja

Six months of the year 2024 have passed. During this time, many Bollywood films were released on the big screen, some of which could not even recover their budget at the box office. Trade analyst Joginder Tuteja hopes that some films included in the sequel list can do good business.

He said, 'The last six months have not been anything special for Bollywood. Many good content were seen but many of those films have failed to do wonders at the box office. The coming six months are very special for us. There are a lot of expectations from films like 'Pushpa 2', 'Singham Again', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3'. These films have been liked by the audience. These films have earned well even in low budgets. If their sequels cross 300-400 crores, then these films will be declared blockbusters. The graph of the box office report card can also see improvement.'

There are many types of sequels

Now finally let me tell you what a sequel is. There are many types of sequels. These are also called 'spin off' or 'spiritual' sequel. 'Spin off' means that a new story is made using some characters from the previous film. Whereas 'spiritual' sequel means that the new film is not based on the old story, but it has the theme of the old film. In some films the characters are the same, but the story is new.
